Abstract

Used cooking oil waste from households has the potential to pollute the environment and negatively impact health, while Karangsuwung Village also faces a relatively high prevalence of hypertension. In response, the KKN team conducted a training program on processing used cooking oil into lemon aromatherapy candles as an effort to promote environmentally friendly waste management and non-pharmacological hypertension prevention. The activity was held on August 28, 2025, involving 10 participants consisting of the village head’s wife and PKK members, using a one group pre-test post-test design. A questionnaire was used to measure participants’ knowledge. The results showed an increase in understanding regarding the hazards of used cooking oil, waste processing techniques, the benefits of aromatherapy candles, and the effects of lemon scent on blood pressure and stress reduction. Participants were also able to practice candle making independently with solid, attractive, and fragrant results. This program effectively raised health and environmental awareness while opening economic opportunities through creative household waste-based products.
